A. BackgroundPerformance of a company is the result of a series of activities undertaken by the company within a certain time. One source of information to track and measure the performance of the company is the financial statements. Indonesian Institute of Accountants accounting standards, Anonymous (2002: 4) "states that the objective of financial statements is to provide information regarding the financial position, performance and changes in financial position of an enterprise that is useful to a large number of users in making economic decisions". Sawir (2003: 2) argues' that the media can be used to assess the health condition of the company are the financial statements ".Rate the performance of a company is not apart from the influence of resources cultivated by the company. Collies and Montgomery (1997: 9) argues that "Resource is a building block strategy is important because it determines what can be done by a company". Resource is long-term capital company that not only determine the competitive advantage, but also on market opportunities to serve.PT Perkebunan Nusantara XIV (Persero) abbreviated PTPN XIV (Persero) is a state-owned enterprises PLANTATION centered in South Sulawesi, which operated in eastern Indonesia. One of the core business that was involved is plantation / palm oil mill (MCC), which produces crude palm oil, CPO. In addition to the government policy very encouraging development in the plantation sector, palm oil business is the potential to increase the value of companies and to improve shareholder earnings.Oil Palm in Luwu is one of the commodities produced by the plantation PTPN XIV (Persero), the level of production is quite large but the level of sales is very small when compared to Sumatra and Kalimantan. The sales level due to lack of production and lack of supervision of PTPN XIV (Persero)In the neighborhood of PTPN XIV (Persero), palm oil business contributed quite important for the company, both from the standpoint of annual sales revenue (sales). Increase / decrease in sales of palm oil can be seen in table 1.

In the table above, sales of palm oil in a timeframe of 5 years have increased and decreased, can be seen in 2001-2002 sales increased by 35.18%, in 2002-2003 the sales have increased to 3.31%, as did the year 2003- 2004 increased 22.96%, but in 2005 sales decreased by 29.01%Efficiency in all fields has been carried out by PTPN XIV (Persero) to improve its financial performance. Currently the company is preparing to launch its first production to be marketed overseas d which to date have signed a contract several purchases of palm oil production in the form of attractive packaging with the aim of European countries, Middle East, Asia and Africa in the rest of the countryThe condition is expected to open up great opportunities to long-term investments as well as increased sales and production in the future. Current conditions this brings great wisdom in attitude and thinking that palm oil production to be increased because of the increased production will also affect the increase in salesOil Palm in Luwu is one of the commodities produced by the plantation PTPN XIV (Persero) in Luwu district where scattered throughout Indonesia, both in the Region and the East Indoneia Indonesia western region. The area of land available for development potential and palm oil in Indonesia's eastern region and the western Indonesian region is 2,487,256 hectares, with details as follows:

If potential of land in accordance with the technical culture of oil palm in KTI provided quite extensive, while that has been planted is still very far below the KBI, why it happened. Is this business opportunity does not promise an incentive for businesses that are not interested to invest in the business of oil in EI? Question - this question is very interesting to find the answer.By looking at the prospects for the development of enterprises Oil Palm Plantation in Indonesia in general and especially in eastern Indonesia, the PKS Luwu I as a pilot project has a strategic role and therefore interesting to study.Based on the considerations outlined above, then the writer is interested in conducting research with the title: "Financial Performance Analysis Method Based Du Pont At Palm Oil Factory Luwu I PTPN XIV (Persero) in Luwu".B. Problem FormulationBased on the background of the problems mentioned above, it can be argued that the formulation of key issues:"How's financial performance based on the method of Du Pont in PTPN XIV (Persero) in Luwu during 2001-2005? ".C. ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to determine the development of financial performance based on the method of Du Pont in PTPN XIV (Persero) in Luwu district 2001-2005D. Benefits ResearchThe benefits of this research are:1. As a material consideration in decision making for PT PTPN XIV (Persero) in Luwu district in analyzing the company's performance based on the method of Du Pont in the future.2. As information for parties interested in the company.3. To increase the knowledge and experience of researchers in the field of research as a form of application of the theory gained in college as well as learning materials and solving problems for the researcher.4. For reading material and reference tool for further research in accordance with the problems or science researcher inscientific development into the future.
