Analysis Services Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) Against Increasing Number of Customers At PT.Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Territory Makassar

I. IntroductionA. BackgroundBanking industry is so rapid in recent years is characterized by a fundamental change in its operational activities. The first change is the willingness of the banking industry to reach the market (market) that is customer-driven business. This causes a change in the concept of the marketing industry, which initially oriented to customer oriented banking. So that this change will change the pattern of bank services in launching products and services to the public. One pattern mainstay of banking services is an Automated Teller Machine (ATM). So increasing desire of communities to participate and enjoy some of the amenities offered by this smart machine, make managers Bank believe that the ATM can attract more customers. Banks that have strong capital continue to increase the presence of these machines in almost all shopping centers, entertainment, office and residential.Other changes involve a change in emphasis reception bank profits, which originally focused profits from the difference between the interest rate (interest spread based income) into acceptance of the provision of services (fee) is often referred to as fee-based income. This change brings other consequences for the banking industry, ie the need for an information system that is valid, accurate, and efficient. The information system should be supported by the availability of adequate hardware and software, easy to apply with other systems / open (applicable with another system / open system) and easy to use (userable) and secure (securitable).In Indonesia, almost all people know and hear the words of the ATM. Bank Indonesia statistical data showing the number of banks, both Commercial Bank, Bank Regional Government, and private banks, Bank of 108 in 2000, fell to 102 Bank (see table 1). However, the number of its ATM machines increased from the amount of 9594 units in 2000 to 15 669 units in 2003 (see table 2). However, when compared to ATM transactions in developed countries, where each ATM conduct transactions daily 500-1,000.ATM usage is not optimal is influenced by several factors. First is the cultural factors, which still considers the transaction face to face or direct transactions more secure, despite having a long queue. The second factor is technology, with the current technological developments non teller transaction services Bank no longer rely on ATM transactions. There is now a more flexible facility that is Mobile banking, where transactions can be performed using celluler phone, so people do not need to come and queue at the ATM. There are also Internet-banking facilities, where the transaction can be carried out of the work area with internet access.PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Territory Makassar is one branch of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero), Tbk entrust banking transactions using automated teller an Independent (automated teller machine) together are starting to be used by its customers since 2004, research it focuses on the development of customer numbers in PT.Bank Mandiri (Persero), Tbk Makassar region before and after the use of ATM together.Based on the background that has been presented, the authors conducted research with the title Analysis Services Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) Against Increasing Number of Customers At PT.Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Territory MakassarB. Principal Problems.Based on the background that have been put forward, the key problem in this study is whether the influence before and after use of the service Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) along Against Increasing Number of Customers At PT.Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Territory Makassar.C. Research Objectives and Purpose

Referring to the fundamental issues that have been raised, then the purpose of the study was to determine the effect before and after use of the service Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) along Against Increasing Number of Customers At PT.Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Territory Makassar.
   
2. Usability Research
 
The usefulness of this research is intended to:1. As an input and information to the bank's management with respect to the effect of the service automatic teller machine (ATM) to increase the number of customers.2. As a reference and library materials to those who want to do further research with respect to the same issue.
